About us

The idea for the foundation was established in 2023, but the idea for its establishment is much older. It is related to the work story of the founder. We are a small family foundation, a team of several people who have a shorter or longer relationship with Africa. During our time in various African countries we have, among other things, tried to find viable concepts to help the poor people of Africa. Now we want to primarily support the community of people who handcraft baskets for us. For these, the knitters are paid a premium for local standards. The funds from the proceeds of the collection go on to educate the children of the knitters, for healthcare, but we also support individual projects serving the wider community in Bolgatanga. However, as in the past, various one-off events may be part of our work. We thank all those who have supported us so far.

As of 2023, we have been running a public fundraising campaign for the main purposes of the Foundation - as per Section 3 of the Empower Bolga Foundation Charter ("The purpose of the Foundation" 1. The socially useful and public benefit purpose of the Foundation is to support projects in Africa, particularly in the following areas: social - supporting social housing, employment; education - supporting local schools and students; health - supporting the improvement of the quality and availability of medical care; self-sufficiency - supporting small and medium entrepreneurs.")
